Protea Midwifery Services
“Childbirth is an experience in a woman’s life that holds the power to transform her forever. Passing through these powerful gates – in her own way – remembering all the generations of women who walk with her… She is never alone.”
Welcome to Protea Midwifery Services, that work in our own private practice caring for the mother throughout her antenatal consultations, as she births her baby as well as after the birth by supporting the family. Not only does the family benefit from a caregiver that is both nurturing and trustworthy, but also a professional who is aware of the latest research, and who knows when technology is necessary – when to use it and when not to.
The goal of the midwife is the health and wellbeing of mother and baby. She has the resources, wisdom and professional training to safely guide the family on the journey through pregnancy. In South Africa, a registered midwife qualified with a four year diploma or degree in general nursing and midwifery through an accredited South African Nursing Council (SANC) facility.
A qualified midwife is a specialist in natural birth and has the skills to monitor women and their babies through pregnancy, labour, birth and into parenthood. As well as her clinical expertise, she shares with you the desire for a healthy and empowering birth experience and uses her knowledge and experience to guide you towards this goal.
