We work together with the back-up Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, who checks for any high risk complications during pregnancy and in the case a Caesarean section is required, should the need arise.

 

The Protea Midwives are your main healthcare professionals, and you will also be required to have scheduled antenatal consultations with an Obstetrician/ Gynaeologist, (OBGYN). You will need to have two to three antenatal consultations with an OBGYN at 12, 20 and 36 weeks. This is to check that your pregnancy maintains a low risk pregnancy status and should any high risk complications arise, your OBGYN will continue with your care.

 

Your OBGYN is also your surgeon in case a caesarean section is needed. The OBGYN is thereby on standby,when you go into labour, in case of an emergency.
