Support from bump to baby
A trusted guide to the professionals who will you support through your pregnancy, your birth experience as well as in the days and weeks after baby arrives. It takes a village to raise a child, and we believe that support during pregnancy, birth and postnatally is just as important. We refer our moms-to-be for complementary support and therapies such as chiropractic care, physiotherapy, reflexology, massage etc during pregnancy. Research demonstrates that many complementary therapies and practices (for example, massage or acupuncture for lower back pain) offer comfort with a lower risk of undesirable side effects than many medications.
A holistic approach considers all aspects of your family’s life to best prepare you for pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.
We also encourage our expectant parents to hire a Doula as we consider Doulas a valuable part of the birth team.

During and after pregnancy reflexology helps to reduce the symptoms that sometimes present themselves, and assists in readying the body for birth. Pregnancy is one of the most special and significant experiences you may ever have. Prior to and during this time you need to prioritise your own health in order to sustain the health and development of the baby growing inside you. It is essential to nourish and nurture your body and soul for the duration of conception, the fetal stage and perinatal stage (just after birth) as this is when the foundation is laid for your mutual health and a strong bond between you and your baby.

Dr Candice Barnard
Dr Candice Naida Barnard, (M. Tech. Hom. & B. Phys. Ed.) is a registered Homoeopath and teacher. Early life problems such as colic, teething, nappy rash, eczema and sleeplessness all respond well to homeopathic medicines. It can also help with demanding babies who appear to be clingy, discontented, bad tempered or nervous. The immune system develops during childhood and so it is the ideal time to introduce your child to homeopathy. Homoeopathy successfully treats children when they are ill, as well as strengthening their constitution and boosting their immune system making them less susceptible to illness and infection.

Anyone will benefit from Chiropractic treatment regardless of their existing state of health. Treatment can be tailored to suit everyone from the newest baby to the oldest grandparent. Whilst physical pain in its various forms is the most frequent presenting complaint of most clients seeking chiropractic care in South Africa you do not have to be in pain to see a Chiropractor. Treatment with Bridget includes a combination of chiropractic adjustment and soft tissue techniques such as ischaemic compression, dry needling, fascial release and massage techniques. Treatments are client-centered, client-directed (many clients do not like some aspects of the soft tissue techniques and are free to communicate their preferences to Bridget) focus on the whole client rather than just the physical body.

Each years, according to international studies, 1 – 3 babies out of each 1000 that are born will have hearing loss. In South Africa this translates to more than 300 000 babies who will be born with some sort of permanent hearing impairment.
Hearing screening is offered by audiologists at most private hospitals, and at many of the public hospitals too. It is a quick, easy and sage test which is done at the bedside and which most babies can even sleep through. Ideally it is important for all babies to be screened, and for this reason many audiologists offer to screen your baby’s hearing whilst you are still in hospital.
If your baby is not born is a hospital, or your birthing unit does not offer hearing screening, it is then recommended to have your baby’s hearing screened before he/she is 6 weeks old.

Dr Susan Goslett
Dr Susan Goslett, a neurologically-based chiropractor has a particular focus on the optimal function of the nervous system. Our advanced, internationally-taught techniques and methods of adjustment not only suit patients that seek a chiropractor as a result of pain, but also lend themselves to those that are looking to improve their general state of physiological well being. Her low-force techniques are particularly suited to pregnant ladies, babies and those more sensitive patients that don’t like, or may be more sensitive to the traditional high-impact adjustments. Our experience is that patients initially contact us as a result of back pain, neck pain or headaches, but with regular treatment many experience improvements in other areas such as sleep patterns, bowel movements, memory and concentration, and a general feeling of well-being and improved quality of life.

Dr Megan Main-Baillie
I am a Clinical Psychologist and mom practicing in Fourways, Johannesburg. I believe that a warm, stable, and trusting therapeutic relationship combined with the right tools can allow anyone to safely explore their trauma, losses and life struggles, and in doing so harness the energy needed to facilitate healing and ultimately improve their quality of life. I am passionate about the joys and struggles of being a mom, from the moment of conception to the the birthing process and beyond. The mental and emotional well being of a woman during pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a special interest for me as I believe most women do not get the support and tools they need through this process. If you’re struggling with infertility, miscarriage/s or loss of a baby, difficult and traumatic births, postpartum stress of any kind, and just the massive adjustment to motherhood, and anything in between then please get in touch.

Paediatric Nurse
Timor Lifschitz
My name is Timor (“Tea-more” – It’s Hebrew) and I am a registered nurse/midwife and lactation consultant. I wanted to be a nurse since I was 3 years old, and when I met my husband in high school after he had just completed his basic paramedic course I decided to go into nursing, and specifically, I wanted to be a midwife. During my degree I assisted at DISA Clinic where I learnt about female sexuality and reproductive health. I received 6 achievement awards at the end of my degree, and did my community and contract year at Joburg Gen (Charlotte Maxeke) Hospital where I spent my time in different areas of the Gynae and Obstetric wards. After I completed that, I was accepted for a midwife position at Genesis Maternity Clinic where I learnt just how beautiful and intimate birth could (and SHOULD) really be like, and how we should honour and protect that space. I want to share what I have learnt with other parents, and to assist them to work with their children rather than fight against them – from birth to infant sleep and introduction to solids, etc. I also passed my SACLC exam with distinction. I am now a qualified lactation consultant and can assist you in your breastfeeding journey.
